Jon-Mykal - Featured Artist
Born in Gary, Indiana and raised in the neighboring community of Fort Wayne, Indiana; the younger of two boys forged his vocal skills and honed his ‘presence’ under the spotlight of local talent shows & night clubs before and during his stay at Indiana State University located in Terre Haute Indiana.
As a transplant to the valley of the sun (Phoenix AZ) from 1992 till 1999 JonMykal lent his vocal talent to other local artists including NB Riders, Steve Harris & Sir Lantz Ent, R.K. Jackson &Urban Trax Ent, to name just a few. He has performed onstage with national artists Ce-Ce Peniston, Tony Terry, H-Town, Adina Howard, and many others. Having completed production of his debut album released in the fall of 1999, he extended a hand of service to produce local talents Rose Johnson, Leon, A-RHYME, C-Hunter, and others.
Jon-Mykal’s strong, intense, fluid vocal delivery draws influence from a variety of R&B icons such as Donny Hathaway, Jackie Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Earth-Wind & Fire, among others. As a producer, his blend of jazz infected R&B with driving rhythms and hip hop beats can transport any listener from non-stop clubbing to a night filled with the most private pleasures.
Leaving Arizona behind permanently in 1999, he served as chief studio engineer for Plush Productions (owned and operated by Rap Veterans Rodney O. & Joe Cooley), Rottie Records (owned and operated by Rap Artist E-Dubb), and Ice Rocket Records before moving to the Antelope Valley. As owner of 7th Floor Entertainment, his duties range from studio session engineering, to entertainment consultation for several local organizations, including “Visions of Hope” headed by Dean Crenshaw. Serving as director of entertainment provided the unrestricted opportunity to “give back” to the youth of the community, and exemplify a positive role model for our young men.
After singing the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America” for the Los Angeles Dodgers April 25, 2004 home game, JonMykal was given the opportunity to audition for the “5 Tempting Men” tribute to the Motown Legends “The Temptations” where his performances in tribute to both Dennis Edwards, and the late David Ruffin, continue to this day. Present projects include regular performances as the “Front Man” for the R&B/Funk/Old-School Band “B.I.G. Brothers Igniting A Groove”, comprised of musicians boasting tour credits with artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Gap Band, Liza Minnelli, Jimmy Buffet, Maxwell, and many more. They deliver a variety of music including dance funk from the 80’s and 90’s, and today’s current R&B. Take a moment to discover what so many have come to understand.
Let go, and enjoy.
