Odario - "Low Light (In This Space)" - Featured Artist

Odario Williams is a storyteller, hip-hop junkie and lover of musical soundscapes. As a performer and personality, he wears many hats and describes himself as a raconteur, an actor, a radio host, and a DJ. As a solo artist, Odario encompasses all of these aspects, tackling the many sides of beat poetry.

His debut solo single “Low Light (In This Space)” is an outlet for Odario to get embedded in the beat and lost in the bass. His artistic vision combines elements of hip-hop, gospel and innovative rhythms to create a new sound for a new decade. Produced by long-time collaborator AlisterJohnson (Zaki Ibrahim, Grand Analog) and featuring Vancouver soul vocalist Dawn Pemberton (Do Right Music), the song is equal parts headnod and soulfulness.

“This song is a new space for you to reflect, release and get down low. Dawn Pemberton put me in a trance as I admired her powerful vocal delivery over the master production of Alister Johnson. We came to get down, and pick you up," says Odario.

The opening line, "In this space we know nothing... but we can learn a little something if we try..." was written as a reminder to leave one’s ego at the door when entering new spaces.“ As I wrote this song I imagined humanity as a community, clicking delete on what we perceive as our differences and encouraging one another to embrace our similarities as people. With that comes emotion, something we all embrace together. It’s the gospel of anger, and a hunt for an answer,”he explains.
