Maurizio de Franchis aka RIO was born in Napoli, Italy, in 1956.

He is a famous name in the italian music scene.

In 1987 “Sanremo Festival” with Tony Esposito sung “Sinue” as Maurizio de Franchis.

In 1991 He is in a band called “Sold Out”, they made a record called “Souled” that was published all over the world. He takes the nickname of “RIO”.

They participated in the BBC1 television, and video clips in London, Los Angeles, New York.

In 1991 “Sanremo Festival International” - “Sanremo Festival Italy”– Sold Out sung “ Listen to me” the English version of “Io ti prego di ascoltare” of famous Italian singer Riccardo Fogli.

One of the song of - Souled record - “Shine on”, was in the European charts for many months.

In the meantime Rio collaborates as songwriter with many international music artists.
